The Alternative Christmas Tree

I’m a huge fan of a traditional christmas tree and this time of year really makes me wish we lived in a huge stately home to fill with huge real trees but the reality is real trees completely take over our home, I always choose one that is too big and having a toddler and a dog means that pine needles end up EVERYWHERE. This year I’ve purchased a real tree for the garden to satisfy my need…so far so good. I like to decorate every room in the house but most of the decorations available on the highstreet are way too overpowering for the standard family home.

Last week I posted December’s Lust List featuring my top ten sustainable christmas decorations on the market this year. It featured a couple of Christmas tree alternatives, including some gorgeous tree candles but it didn’t really give any options for a eco trees where floorspace is lacking, then I found this beautifully simple, scandi style tree shelf and had to share it with you!

The tree shelf is handmade from reclaimed pallet wood and comes ready to hang, complete with little hooks. I decided to style mine in the bedroom next to my dressing table, I created myself a little beauty christmas shelf with my favourite lipstick and perfumes at hand for Christmas party prepping. The hooks came in handy for my Christmas stocking (fingers crossed Santa fills that one on Christmas Eve) and my beauty baubles from Bloomtown which I open when I need a little ‘pick me up’ to get me through the rest of December.

The tree is super lightweight and beautifully crafted here in the north of England. I have plans to collect a full shelf’s worth of christmas espresso cups in the January sale and plan to hang it in our kitchen somewhere housing them. The hooks are handy for larger mugs (hot chocolate sized).

The Christmas Tree Shelf is handmade to order by Nest Handpainted (who kindly gifted the shelf to me)  & can be purchased on Etsy, I think there is still time to order pre Christmas if you’re speedy. The only thing left to ask is can I get away with leaving it up all year round?
