As any of our social media followers will know I’ve have been working with Ideal Home Show Manchester to create a room for their Ideal Roomsets feature which this year was sponsored by Silentnight.
I was asked to design a roomset based on one of the four seasons, to go alongside 3 other roomsets at the show…I decided to go for a summer dining room. The idea for a rustic, tropical theme was inspired by exotic summer holidays (complete with an all important cocktail bar), the scheme would showcase this years Greenery trend along with LMH’s signature reclaimed look and using sustainable elements wherever possible. Here’s a look at the moodboard for the design.
The backdrop of the design was this stunning Banano leaf print wallpaper by Coordonne paired with a Valspar colour mixed to match the green base of the paper. This was brightened to keep within the summer brief with a cork floor from Walls and Floors. I love cork flooring for its sustainability and the relaxed look in gives a space, you can read more on the benefits of cork here.
The centrepiece was this stunning Barker & Stonehouse reclaimed wood table & bench with complimentary metal, industrial chairs. The table was decorated with an eclectic mix of gold accessories and tropical fruits, I’ve long been a fan of using fruit and veg where traditionally flowers would be (think sprouts in vases at christmas). The Pineapple accessories & palm print dinner set came from Next and the cool Cactus glasses from Bespoke Barware. The Green recycled wine bottle glasses are available from us in the Little Mill House store. Sidenote: how cool are the giant lemons found in ASDA!?
The light above the table is our Dyberg Larsen Create-Your-Own pendant which I customised with the offcuts from the wallpaper upping the greenery/tropical game and offering a little co-ord in an unexpected place.
In my opinion no dining room design, especially a summer themed one inspired by tropical travels should be without a cocktail bar. This Barrel Bar Cabinet from Wayfair did the trick when we couldn’t get the TukTuk bar (see moodboard) delivered in time for the show, everything happens for a reason & I love how the industrial feel to the Barrel bar adds another element to the room, what do you think? The bar was styled with more fun drinkware from Bespoke Barware and this fun flamingo lamp from Rockett St George.
Above the bar was a fun gallery wall based around the Rockett St George cinema board cocktail list. The Pineapples and Palm Trees print by North 6 Graphic Design fit the design perfectly & is printed local to the show in Manchester so was a must have! The yellow accent colour from the ‘Hello’ coat rack adds a little rebellion to the otherwise strict colour scheme whilst adding to the summer vibes of the roomset. The Amish star was thrown into the mix to up the rustic in this corner of the room.
The amazing faux plants came from Rockett St George and add extra texture to the space. I love the La Redoute mirror with the palm, really wanting to recreate this corner in my home (just need to find a spare corner).
The neon catcus from Bag & Bones is another one I’d love to squeeze in at home somewhere, how fun does it look against the Banano wallpaper (layering isn’t just cool for clothing) with the Resin Cactus ornament from La Redoute sat at the side of it?
The bamboo plant stands add height to the jungle vibes of the space with the faux fern & palm vase looking great together. I love how the plant stands add to the space without taking up too much floorspace within the roomset.
The design wouldn’t have been possible to create without such an amazing bunch of suppliers, a huge huge thank you to all of you!
