Why are cushions essential?

I know I’m majorly biased in this department as (for those of you who don’t know it already) handmade cushions is where LMH the business and the blog all began, I was really struggling to find unique soft furnishings for my new home that didn’t cost the earth (and moon and planets…). I signed up for a sewing class and made my own from vintage textiles and it all came about from there. If, like me, you love to change the feel of a room regularly then cushions are one of the easiest, most affordable and sustainable ways to do so.

In the living room I love to change from vintage silk cushions to denim or wool…all work well with the grey, striped sofa and the rest of the rooms design scheme.

In the bedroom I change from a deep purple selection to a long hessian grain sack cushion, both change the look and feel of the room instantly.

Cushions can also add subtle personality to a room by featuring a wedding themed design for newlyweds or a vintage design featuring the owners favourite chocolate bar.
