Where do you find inspiration?

For me, there is nothing more exciting than seeing an amazing upcycle I’ve never seen done before or a really cool home full of inspiring styling. I’m constantly being distracted by the latest interiors magazine or an email sent telling me there’s a new post on my favourite blog, not to mention if I decide to have a little scroll on Pinterest as the kettle is boiling. I’m always getting asked where my inspiration comes from and how I keep the creative side of Little Mill House flowing, so I’ve put together a list of my favourite online places to get lost in inspiring words and images.

  • Upcyclist – This is a great blog showcasing amazing artwork and design from all over the globe. Trust me you will be completely ‘wowed’ by how talented some of the artists picked by this blog are.
  • My Warehouse Home – This is such a visually beautiful blog, you can get lost in it for hours. The content is a good mix of new products and inspiration all with an industrial vibe. They have just published their first ‘newspaper’ too which is well worth a read.
  • Sophie Robinson – I love checking Sophie’s blog out first thing in the morning with a coffee, it’s full of colourful, playful styling ideas with a bit of upcycling thrown in from time to time. You’ll recognise Sophie from the Great Interior Design Challenge which we’re all addicted to at the moment.
  • Abigail Ahern – For all of you fellow small businesses and entrepreneurs Abigail Ahern runs a business column every Friday which covers every worry you could have about ‘Getting it right’ in business. It’s a great little read that generally gives me just the motivation needed to get through the back end of the week.
  • Apartment Therapy – I’m addicted to this blog, it has EVERYTHING and can be lethal for procrastinating, house tours of amazing interiors, DIY ideas (many of which involve upcycling), modern housekeeping, before and afters, even gorgeous recipes. It’s my lifestyle inspiration lifesaver and I recommend you all go and subscribe now.
  • For those of you who like something a little more interactive Pinterest and Houzz are great, allowing you to browse inspiration and group together your ideas, it’s amazing what you find on there! Houzz also has a really handy ‘Find a pro’ feature which makes finding a wide range of tradespeople in your area really simple.
