Sustainable Rug Shopping – AD

Rugs are one of the easiest home decor products to source sustainably, especially currently when there is a huge trend for natural fibres and handwoven, scandi styles. In fact, I am a bit of an impulse buyer when it comes to rugs and can never resist a stylish scatter rug made from natural or recycled materials. In general sustainable rugs tend to be on the affordable side of the market, giving maximum style and durability without a high price tag.

The one space I hadn’t found the perfect rug for was the reading area that I’ve created in our master bedroom, we already have two recycled leather bedside rugs in there and nothing that I found seemed to work well with them (either that or it cost the absolute earth). When Land of Rugs approached me to collaborate I had a look through their wide range of styles and found the perfect rug to complete our master bedroom…finally! The rug is called Zira and comes in a range of different colours, I went with natural as it works best in the room but the coloured versions would look amazing in a children’s bedroom or playroom.  The 100% jute Zira rug is handwoven and stitched in India and the shape is reminiscent of the lotus flowers (all in all giving me all of the relaxed feels needed for my bedroom!).

Land of Rugs have a huge range of designs, all of which are affordable. The other rug that caught my eye was this soft, shaggy rug available in grey or cream, it’s the perfect neutral rug and is made from recycled plastic bottles (fun fact – each square meter stops 100 plastic bottles heading to landfill).

Alongside their sustainable ranges Land of Rugs have a good collection of moroccan style rugs, children’s rugs and leather/sheepskin hides all at affordable prices and great quality.

N.B – This post is written in collaboration with Land of Rugs however all words and opinions are very much mine.
