Last week was hectic to say the least but I didn’t care, it was so much fun! I was lucky enough to spend some time gathering inspiration at the London Design Festival, which covers most of the capital throughout most of September. I came back full of new ideas for Little Mill House alongside some great new items for the store that I can’t wait to reveal.
First off I visited Top Drawer and Home London at Olympia, this is a great trade show where I got to catch up with some of our suppliers and find exciting new ones (wait until you smell the Rewined christmas candles). It also gave me the opportunity to go to some great retail and marketing seminars, these were priceless!
Well worth a visit is the Hay mini market which has popped up in Selfridges, it’s ace full of colourful homeware and stationary. It will be there until the end of the year so I’d get yourselves down Oxford Street!
Design Junction was such an inspiring place to visit, The old sorting office is such a great backdrop to all the new designs and interactive exhibits. I was lucky enough to get a seat at the Trisha Guild seminar, what an inspiring lady! I watched the tile people at Bert & May showing us how they work, there is a video on my instagram feed of this. The mini future driverless sleeper car was fun.
The cool travel website Airbnb built some ace houses at Trafalgar Square for their exhibition ‘A Place Called Home’.
100% Design at Earls Court was stunning, from the mirrored entrance to the bar area and the seminar theatre surrounded by the biggest balloons I have ever seen! Unfortunately I didn’t get to see everything as time wasn’t on my side, I did manage to get to a talk on the future of retail with a panel from the likes of Heals and Made.com which was so inspiring. I also received a one-on-one consultation from the people at Houzz Uk, Houzz is quickly becoming my social media addiction of the year and I recommend joining to any design addicts.
There was so much more I wanted to see as the list of events was endless but I had to get back to normality at some point, so off I went to catch my train back up north. I had to stop and get a snap of King Cross Station all lit up before I set off, how cool is it?
