If you follow LMH over on Instagram you’ll know that the other week I took little LMH thousands of miles in the air to visit my sister who lives in Dubai. It’s the third time we have visited the city so thought it was about time we left the beach (for the odd day) and explored a little more of the culture Dubai has to offer, stopping at as many cool eateries as we could along the way. I blogged our first and second trips to the city if you’d like a full round up of what my favourite spots are I’d recommend giving those posts a read too.
The first place I want to rave about is Tom & Serg, a gorgeous little (well not that little) cafe/coffee shop with amazing industrial interior styling. I’ve been wanting to visit this place for quite some time and it really didn’t disappoint. There is 2 floors of stunning industrial design (filled with complementary indoor greenery), a florist/deli, a cute children’s play corner and they even make their own almond milk onsite! What’s not to love?
And unfortunately since I was loving my time at Tom & Serg so much I only manage to get this photo, what can I say the avo toast was too tasty…
We headed to the old part of Dubai for the first time on the trip & I was amazed by how beautiful the architecture and houses were, narrow entrances leading to beautiful courtyards with views over the creek. The area has been looked after and is a busy tourist spot so is filled with cool coffee and ice cream stands along with beautiful designed eateries within the buildings theirselves. When we visited there was a contemporary art exhibition installed throughout the area (by complete luck although I’d love to say I was THAT organised with my travel planning.
Atlantis is a must visit for us in Dubai as the waterpark is just such fun with little LMH but if I’m honest it’s never been a huge source of design inspiration for me, beautiful but not really my style. But…
The new Wavehouse bar & restaurant is full of upcycled elements, industrial features and playful neon lighting. It’s the coolest family friendly bar I’ve been to!
Pin for later?
Our next destination is Granada & Cordoba in Andalusia, any not to be missed places to visit?
