Finding Inspo at Home

I don’t know about you but I really struggle with the tail end of winter (especially when the north of England has been so dull and cold the past few weeks). Working from home can be tough at this time of year, you can easily feel like you never leave these four walls and the only voice you hear is on the radio. To try and stay inspired, motivated and warm through to Spring I’ve made a couple of small changes to my working day…the best part is they haven’t cost me a penny!

Firstly I’ve given myself a more structured timetable to the day, a set amount of time on emails, scheduled time to make coffee/lunch and made sure lunch is a healthier one than the cold weather has me lusting after. Water is always on my desk and I’ve made an effort to put make up on each day and plan an outfit, this helps so much with feeling more motivated when all I want to do is curl up on the sofa under a blanket with a bowl of mini eggs! Here’s some of my winter lunch inspo from my Foodie Pinterest board.

Secondly I’ve relocated my desk space, a change of scenery and a fresh perspective helps so much with feeling inspired. We had a desk in the living room already which we we’re using as a console which I’ve restyled as my workspace, I’ve put our large anglepoise style lamp next to the desk and added some artwork, a small faux succulent (a christmas gift that hadn’t found a home yet) and some of my favourite coffee table design books. I used copper accents on the desk space which blend well with the mixed metals used throughout the living room but also give the area an identity of it’s own. The ghost chair was brought in from the dining table and the faux grey sheepskin keeps it cosy. The desk looks stylish when not in use and only needs the addition of my MacBook and a coffee to be ready for action!

How are you surviving the last few weeks (fingers crossed) of winter? If you’d like some help designing or styling your home, we offer a really affordable E-Design service that could help.
