An Autumn Colour Challenge with Wayfair

Autumn is the season my home really comes into it’s own, it’s a home designed for autumn with lots of warm reds and orange details, gold and rustic wood. I love nothing more than cosying up on an evening with candles lit on every surface a hot chocolate or a glass of red wine (are there any other evening drink options!?). I’d already started a mini living room makeover when Wayfair asked me to take part in their Autumn Colour Challenge, as I’ve raved about their great range of stylish, recycled homeware I accepted the challenge without a second thought. I wanted to add an unexpected colour to the autumn mix of oranges and gold that was already building in the living room, blue felt a good choice to add a little cool into the mix. I picked out a couple of denim blue pieces to pick out the colours from my favourite painting which hangs above the fireplace.

To create a cosy feel I stacked the fireplace with logs (which also smell amazing) and painted random ends in colours from the painting. The blue recycled glass vase adds a little more interest and catches the light of the candles beautifully.

This recycled wool throw is surprisingly really soft, perfect for curling up under watching a film, it adds a little extra blue to the room and another texture for warmth & interest. The denim cushion contrasts perfectly with the oranges in the room and the other textures on the sofa.

I LOVE this denim woven rug, it’s durable enough to survive in my house with a dog and a toddler boy and looks great. It adds so much warmth to the room even though it’s quite a cool colourway. The reclaimed wood side table has so much interest with all of the different colours coming through…it is just big enough for a mug and a candle, with a little extra storage shelf at the bottom for my current read. It’s also narrow enough to tuck in at the side of the sofa when we’re playing trains, cars, farms, lego etc in the afternoon and need as much floor space as possible.

The ‘N’ mug is an indulgent treat for me to enjoy some lovely warming drinks throughout Autumn, it’s bone china and feels lovely to drink from. The gold detailing add a little metallic to an area in the room that doesn’t otherwise have any.

The peace sign in the background is made from barbed wire and looks perfect placed on our ladder gallery shelf.

So what do you think of my autumn updates to the living room? I can’t wait to get sat down this evening curled up in the throw with a hot chocolate and a good read.
