A Modern Rustic Child’s bedroom

We’re seeing lots of reclaimed wood options available in high street stores these days (finally, although still not nearly enough) but many retailers are still shying away from creating reclaimed ranges for children’s rooms. When creating the nursery design for our son’s bedroom we used a small wardrobe and chest of drawers from Barker and Stonehouse, they look great in there with the colourful cot and grey walls but now we’re starting to look for a stylish toddler bed made from a similar rustic wood we are really struggling. The single bed in the same range as his other furniture just looks way too grown up for a 2/3 year old…they still need something fun, don’ they!?

After perusing all of my usual ‘go-to’ stores for beautifully rustic, reclaimed wood furniture I found that Loaf is the best place to head to find stylish yet fun and upcycled children’s beds (this is just for fun at the moment, we have no plans to move up to a ‘real’ bed until Jasper feels completely ready and at the moment he is perfectly happy in his mint green cot for a little longer).  Here’s my short list:

The Clamberdoodle kids bed is the coolest cabin bed out there! It has a chalkboard at the end and has lots of handy storage to scurry away bits & pieces.

This cool cabin bed is filled with storage but is much more in keeping with a rustic home interior scheme than most cabin beds on the market, it also has a fun blackboard on the end for your little ones to get creative.

We think our Greta bed is so good that it should stay at the top of the class. It’s made from reclaimed fir and handmade so no two are the same.

This stylish reclaimed wood bed will look equally perfect in a toddlers room as it would a teenagers making it a great buy for longevity.

Pop is our clever and beautiful storage creation. The beached timber stackable boxes has woven baskets inside, making it useful and cute!

I’m seriously lusting after these reclaimed wood storage cubes, they look great stacked as shown in the image or solo as a bedside table and they come complete with recycled woven magazine baskets (just to add to the styling upcycling!).

Do you have a child’s bedroom filled with reclaimed or vintage pieces? I’d love to see! If you’d like a little more inspiration for designing a child’s room you can read on to this post I wrote a while ago.
