Upcycler turned Party Planner

I went into planning Jasper’s first birthday party as a complete novice (as I’m sure many first time parents do) having attended the grand number of 3 kids parties in my adult life. I’m happy to report that things went smoothly and we had the perfect afternoon with family and friends, thanks to Pinterest and the amazing Rock My Family blog for being such great sources of inspiration.

We decided to keep decorations pretty minimal, with a house full of toys & people we didn’t want the place to feel hectic.

We strung these alphabet fairy lights spelling out ‘Jasper Is One’ over the ladder shelf, these will get so much use for Halloween, Christmas, Easter…making them a pretty justifiable purchase.

What’s a first birthday without balloons right? The balloon hung on the door was recycled from Jaspers little friends birthday party back in August & still looked great.

We went for the theme ‘Jasper’s a wild one’ and made a safari camp for the little ones complete with teepee and this awesome ball pit from The Modern Nursery. We love their site for keeping playtime stylish.  The safari road rug was a bargain H & M find & ties the theme together perfectly, it’s destined for Jasper’s bedroom where (hopefully) he’ll get years of use out of it!

We created a little Prosecco bar on our airplane trolley to toast the little man on his big day.

And finally onto the cake…it was amazing! Five whole layers of chocolate truffle made by the talented bakers who created our wedding cake and topped with an upcycled zebra toy candleholder from Lola Beau Design.

SOOO what do you think of our first attempt at kids parties? Good job they only come around once a year ey?
