Every year at around this time I start dreaming up exciting new ideas for the garden and ways to add extra interest to it. It’s not much of a surprise really is it, I don’t know how anyone couldn’t be feeling inspired whilst watching the Chelsea Flower Show highlights (one year I will make sure I get down there to see the creations in full). So lucky for us we have a bank holiday weekend to crack on with all (or maybe some) of the projects on our lists.
So here’s my list, admittedly some of these are a little unrealistic considering the size of my cottage garden but I can dream right?
TEAPOTS – the more varied, worn and chipped the better (charity shops will be your best bet for these). They look great planted up with violas, herbs or even strawberries.
I’ve been longing after a water feature for years. I’m going to have to go with a design much smaller than this unfortunately but along the same lines, using a lovely aged zinc container and some gorgeous water loving plants, watch this space!
This would look great by the kitchen door keeping all your herbs handy. Such a simple idea for over the bank holiday using a simple pallet.
I have lusted after a living wall since I moved into Little Mill House nearly 5 years ago…this would make a simple, stylish solution…time to start collecting pallets I think.
Sticking with pallets how fun is this small space garden? This proves you can create any look you wish using reclaimed materials. The additional seating/tables made from cable reels finishes the scheme off perfectly.
Have you ever seen such a stylish trampoline? Unfortunately I don’t have an old trampoline lying around to upcycle but you never know what I might see in a skip right? This is such a clever idea and I can’t imagine how comfy and relaxing it would be lazing around in this over the bank holiday weekend.
My list wouldn’t be complete without a classic in the form of a rusty, old wheelbarrow filled with beautiful hydrangeas. How is it that we never get around to doing such simple, effective garden tasks?
I’d love to see your upcycled garden projects. Send photos over to natalie@littlemillhouse.co.uk
Happy gardening this bank holiday…now back to the Chelsea Flower Show highlights…
