Choosing artwork for a modern rustic or industrial style space is as important as finding the perfect reclaimed wood dining table, it can completely change the vibe of the space depending on what look you’re trying to achieve. When you get the artwork in an interior design project right, it should give visitors to the property a real idea of who lives/works there and what their personality is. In a building with lots of industrial features, adding colour can only be achieved through artwork and accessories as the walls are often best left neutral. Below I’m sharing some of my favourite ways to incorporate some artwork into your upcycled home.
An industrial brick wall looks amazing but it can be hard to add personality to a room with exposed brick. Adding a cool portrait with a little colour in it can make real impact without being overpowering. The image above is from Homely, I found a native american painting on Artfinder that would create a similar look.
It can be hard to add family photos to a rustic interior design scheme without having to compromise on style. Incorporating family photos with some reclaimed wood art panels will make a feature of the photos that is in keeping with the design of the room. The example shown in the photo above is from Etsy.
Typographic artwork can make a bold statement in a rustic, vintage or industrial space as shown in the image above from My Warehouse Home. You can recreate a monochrome look as shown here or add a bold, colourful, vintage advertisement to give a touch of 90s industrial. Vinterior have some great vintage advertising posters.
If you prefer a scandi rustic space then a relaxed, monochrome piece of artwork is the way forward, the example above is from Real Simple. I’ve found a monochrome, abstract oil painting on Artfinder that would look perfect with your reclaimed wood coffee table.
An instantly achievable way to add personality through artwork is to head to your local charity shops (or to Oxfam’s online shop) and create a budget friendly gallery wall. I love this image above from Dishfunctional Designs.
