Plywood at the V & A

Last week I headed to the V & A on an extremely rainy afternoon and took shelter in their Plywood exhibition (how gorgeous is the new entrance, even on a particularly miserable day?).

Pretty much ever since I became interiors obsessed, I’ve been amazed by Plywood, it’s strength, versatility, eco credentials and low price tag make it such an appealing product. I thought I knew pretty much all there was to know about the history of Plywood but found it pretty cool to learn how it was used within airplanes and the car manufacturing industry. I was also shocked to learn that most of the beautiful walnut wall panelling from the era of the ocean liners was also plywood (and we thought they did things so differently back then ey?). The exhibition takes you right from the early days of plywood to the incredible way in which we use it in this digital age we live in, make sure you pay a visit before the exhibition closes on the 12th November.

The exhibition is sponsored by homeware pioneers Made.com who have definitely played a huge part in the current popularity of plywood in everyday homes. I’ve selected a couple of my favourite plywood pieces from their range and created a little moodboard for how to style them in your own home decor.
