A lockdown night in with Moonpig – AD

A few weeks ago I was invited, by Moonpig to spend the evening with them over zoom for a fun night in. Of course I said yes, although slightly sceptical about the idea as I grew tired of the zoom catch ups quite early on in lockdown. The evening turned out to be really fun & informative, even if flower arranging after cocktail making wasn’t my finest moment! The evening started with a walk through the Moonpig app, which I wasn’t familiar with previously. My favourite feature was that you can handwrite a note on paper, photograph it & upload to send a more personal note directly to the recipient (very handy at the moment) in their cards.

The second part of the evening was a cocktail making class with Mix & Twist UK, it was SO much fun! We created three different gin cocktails using Silent Pool gin, which I’d never tried before & is absolutely delicious. The Strawberry Gimlet was my favourite from the evening & we’ve recreated it quite a few times since. Here are the recipes for the 3 cocktails we made on the evening:

Gin Garden:

45 Gin, 25 lime, 25, sugar syrup, mint, cucumber, soda top.

Build method.

Elderflower Collins:

45 Gin, lemon, 25, sugar syrup, Elderflower soda top.

Shake and pour.

—–

Strawberry Gimlet:

3-4 strawberries, 45 Gin, 25 lime, 25, sugar syrup, 25 cranberry juice.

Shake and strain.

The final part of the evening was flower arranging with the lovely Moonpig florist Roxanne, which I gave up as a bad job after all of the gin cocktails & returned to in the morning but I did find it really interesting to hear some tips on arranging & the psychology of gifting flowers.

Thank you Moonpig for making a Thursday evening in lockdown feel like a night out with friends!
