This inspiring little trip I took last month has proved so valuable these past few weeks at keeping me motivated and creative. It has been FULL ON here at Natalie Lockwood interiors this month with 3 large projects due to complete in the next few weeks.

July brings mainly E-design projects as I will be taking some time to enjoy summer with family and friends. I'm starting work on a very exciting renovation project in my home county of Yorkshire next month which I will be sharing with you over on stories.

I've spent so much of my time choosing tiles this year that I thought it would be helpful to share some important considerations to take into account when making decisions.
•
1. Durability - make sure the tile is suitable for use where you intend to fit it. If using natural, porous materials be sure to finish correctly and use appropriate cleaning products so they don't damage easily.
2. Sustainability - we are all making conscious choices about our purchases and tile shopping is no different. Look at how and where the product is made before making a purchase.
3. Respect your property - does the tile fit the style and character of your property. If laying a floor or tiling a bathroom your choice should enhance what the property already as it will likely be a part of the structure for a long time.
4. Size - think about the space and how you want it to feel, choosing the correct size tile can make the space feel longer, taller or cosier.

I'm very thankful to have so many exciting projects on the go at the moment...including work finally coming together on our renovation project in Granada after what feels like a decade (it has been two years). We have a beautiful handmade terracotta floor being laid, concrete tiled windowsills with wood windows and freshly plastered walls. It's delicious!
•
My diary is filling up through to the end of august so if you have a project you think you'll need my help with please get in touch sooner rather than later to avoid any disappointment. I try to squeeze you in always but with the long summer break coming up for school it isn't always possible 🤍

This living room design in a clients full home renovation is a great example of how bespoke artwork can lift a space and bring the room together.

This awesome art installation bring the colours of the room together. What's really special is that the shape of the canvases we sourced bring the geometrics from the kitchen & living room details onto the wall too.

Here's a quick look at an initial interior design concept that I recently created for an E-design client. This document is sent to you along with a budget breakdown (shopping list) including links to all of the items used in the design so that you can easily purchase & start the redecorating of your chosen room.
•
The concept helps you to visualise how the space will come together & how the colours/textures sit next to one another. The concept can often be accompanied by a mood board containing samples of the finishes & textures in the space and rendered drawings to give an even better visual of how the completed room will look.
•
One of my favourite parts of the design process is receiving feedback & chatting through the initial concept boards.

I was born & bred in Yorkshire, my mum grew up on a farm there. My dad is Iraqi & left the navy to stay in the UK when I was born.
•
I recently moved to Andalucia, Spain with my husband, son & our Cavalier King Charles spaniel. We are renovating a farm property which we will Airbnb. It's taking way longer to complete than expected...
•
I trained as a hairdresser when I left school, loved working in the salon as a Saturday girl & decided to stay on. As soon as I qualified I realised it wasn't for me.
•
I love travel! I'll go wherever I can whenever I can & really struggled being stuck during lockdown. The aim was 30 countries before turning 30 but thanks to lockdown I made it to 28 🌎
•
I'm happiest when surrounded by trees or near the ocean, if I don't get outside enough it's noticeable to those who live with me 😬 🌳 🌊
•
I got married on a cruise ship somewhere between Portugal & La Palma 🚢
I have a huge love of being at sea despite suffering from seasickness
•
My love of interior design started when I started making cushions and upcycling furniture for my first home. Once I realised it's what I wanted to do I trained online whilst working part time in a homeware shop & cafe & selling my cushions on Etsy.

I cook, it's my therapy & Indian food is my favourite.
